Default Rear shock replacement

Hi all,

pardon on my ignorance, but have a question about my rear shock. Dealership told me I had a leaking right rear shock as I complained about the loud thumping over speed bumps etc. . 850 to replace. I’m wanting to buy my own and have a friend install. Can’t seem to google enough to point me in the right direction for what’s on my car and what the part number is for replacement. Doesn’t have to be OEM, but I’d like a quality shock. I’d also get the OEM if not too expensive. Any idea where I can look or what my part number is to buy replacement? I keep getting asked if it’s gas or air? I have no idea. I just know I have a 2009 RWD IS250. Can someone please tell me what I have, where to look and what I need to replace? Thank you

Kyb , tokico, Koni, are all good brands. It seems that the right rear is pretty common to start leaking. Mine is doing the same. It definitely sucks. I am switching to coil overs but may do kyb gas a just in the mean time. Good shocks for the money.

Also, you may want to consider replacing both rear shocks.

get the F sport shocks, MUCH better ride than the factory ones. Youll have to replace them in pairs and get an alignment. You can get an entire set of F sport shocks for well under that $850 quote

One of my rears have shown signs of leaking for 7 years. Haven't noticed difference in driving so just just pressure clean and keep driving.

dealer pointed it out when I did my two rear drive axle replacement (leaking CV grease) under the 7 year 70k miles drive train warranty.

Might as well get entire matching set and just swap it.

F-Sport shocks are made by Bilstein, top notch manufacturer with fabulous reputation. When you buy F-Sport shocks you will have warranty backed by Lexus and they won't hassle you for using aftermarket parts when problem occurs with your car.
