Hey guys, I've been looking through the forum for a while and still can't seem to grasp what the dealers mean by caster bushing replacement specifically. Do they mean the lower control arm bushings? I attached what the dealership wanted me to change and no, i'd never pay that much money to get those fixed at the dealership. I'm just figuring things out and i'm sure i can do most of these things and for way cheaper, except for the extension housing seal. Can anyone explain to me in detail or specifically what they mean by these? Including the extension housing seal, which i'm not too sure about either. I have a manual transmission.
Those are excellent questions. Looking at https://www.mylparts.com/auto-parts/...suspension-cat, I don't see anything called a castor bushing or anything called an extension seal. If I were you, I'd get under there and look for grease leaking from any bushings or boots/seals and then find the arm/part in the diagrams and get them. Bushings can be replaced on most things, but sometimes, it's better to just replace the arm it's on if you don't have the patience or tools to replace the bushing.

They are referring to the lower control arm bushings. They want to replace both your right and left side lower control arms.
Is your rear axle leaking or is there any signs of a leak from differential? Why do they want to replace your rear axles, is there play are they CV Joints worn out?
Alright so while I was changing the oil in my car I took pictures of the rear axles, lca bushings, and my transmission housing. I can definitely see fluid that leaked from my transmission. I've been driving this car for little over 5 months now and I really hope the level isn't low enough to cause major damages. I have ordered two amsoil sae 75W-90 severe quart bottles and i'm planning on replacing the fluid ASAP. I'll take it to a shop to see find exactly where the transmission is leaking from. As for my axles, I'm not too sure, but I see a lot of gunk and what seems to be oil and gunk. Transmission above the crossmember.
Look into figs engineering. They have a ton of poly bushings for our chassis. You can upgrade them at the same time :-). They also offer front LCA bushings that include the housings.
