Default Paddle Shifter Q's

Hi Everyone, this is my first post on the forum and sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I had a quick question about the paddle shifters. So while the car is moving, I figured out if you press on the downshift one, it allows you downshift and control the car. But my question is is this the same as switching it to sport mode with the shift ****? Or is it different? BTW I know mostly how the car works while it's switched into sports mode with the ****.

Same thing, it's your preference. I prefer using the paddles because I don't have to take my hands off the steering wheel and because the shifter is reversed(push for upshifts and pull for downshifts).
