Default shift lag & steering issue

Hello, sorry to bother you all but i'm experiencing a couple weird issues.

in normal drive at times the car seems to almost stall out when shifting from 1st to 2nd I figured it had something to do with the engine being cold but it will also do so after I have been driving for a bit.

the other issue is at times the car seems to want to kill me by turning itself right, is this a common problem with an easy fix?

Thank you all for the help, and sorry if these have been asked before having to rush to get the kiddo off to bed

What exactly is it doing during the 1-2 shift? Is it staying in 1st? Is it jerking at all?

You'll have to be a bit more specific on the bit about the car wanting to kill you when turning to the right.

if your car is pulling right, u should check your right front and right rear suspension, brakes and tire wear... if thats not the case take your car and do a alignment...

transmission wise our transmission shift stupid slow in the first place even in pwr/sport mode, when is your last time u change fluids? did u try and reset transmission ecu by disconnecting battery?

Not sure about the shift lag, but the "turning itself right" could be a number of things. You've got a 2008, but I don't know the miles. The front lower control arm bushings on a the IS are CRAP!!!! and Lexus should be spanked for using them. Even on a low mileage (mine was 16k when I got it on a 2012), the extremely soft LCA bushings allow the front wheels to toe in/out all over the place which causes very bad front tire wear and crazy steering behavior. It will follow ruts in the road, uneven pavement, bump steering and do all sorts of things during heaving breaking. I would want to see if your right LCA bushing has failed or gone way too soft. You can replace them with aftermarket LCA bushings from Figs or RR Racing and you'll be amazed at how different the steering feels. They give you much more connection to the road, IMHO.

If this doesn't describe your experience, then please elaborate further.

This pretty much describes the issue in a nut shell, I'll be driving along and the car will just start to pull to the right (almost like someone grabs the wheel and jerks it right) I was going to describe it almost like bump steer in a jeep the only difference is this will happen on super smooth roads too.

the trans issue basically it goes to shift from 1st to 2nd sounds like the car stalls out, and then completes the shift to 2nd gear and continues on it's merry way.

Had a new issue arise today, if I put my hand in the drivers handle to unlock the door it will not unlock either door with either keyfob... if I walk over to the passenger side and put my hand in it will unlock all the doors but the drivers door... I'm having to use the express window down option to unlock the d side door, or the power door lock button on the passenger side.

I love this car just trying to work out the bugs that a car with 99k miles would have a guess

Well if the pull to the right is happening on super smooth roads, I'd suspect the brakes. You should inspect that front right caliper. Could be a bad pad or a seized caliper pin. Check the rotor and see if there is uneven wear.

As for the driver door lock, if you hear the beep when you touch the driver door handle, but the door doesn't unlock, you probably got a bad door lock actuator. I've read several people that have that problem, it seems pretty common since that actuator gets used way more than the other doors. Can you lock the driver's door with the door handle button or fob? If not, then you can bet that's the case. I don't believe there are different fuses for each actuator (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). You can see if you get voltage to it when it tries to lock/unlock. I understand the door panels are very easy to take off. There's a thread around explaining how to.

On the shifting issue, follow the previous advice and get the fluid flushed and filled. That has helped a lot of people with different transmission issues.

I have it set up with lexus (as of now ) to check out the car while it is in for the air bag recall and the dash/door panels. on one posters advice I did unhook the negative battery cable and let it set overnight.. Today when I drove it almost felt like a different car and didn't do the shift lag it had been.

Door lock is still screwed up going to pull the panel off today sometime and try lubing up the mechanical bits
