Default Tire Pressure Warning Light

I've had the light on for the past few days and after checking the tire pressure my assumption is one of the sensors has gone bad. Can anyone who has had to replace one these tell me about how much the part was and if this type of issue is any more frequent with Lexus IS models than other vehicles? The vehicle is a 2009 IS 350, if that helps or changes anything. Thanks in advance!

The TPM sensors are battery operated, so eventually the battery will die.

A tire shop should be able to scan each wheel and see if the sensor is communicating. I would expect the cost to replace to be about $75-100.

Years back I bought a full set of sensors for about $40 on ebay, and had them installed in my winter wheels, then programmed them myself using techstream.

I would recommend just going to a tire shop though.

If you take it to the stealership, probably $100 for one (they'll most likely will try to get you to replace all of them). If you buy them used off eBay: ~$20/sensor. You also have to pay a tire shop to install it as well and the new sensor needs to be programmed into your car's computer (free) if they know how to properly use the machine. I purchased a used set of OEM sensors off eBay for $70 and I got them mounted on my new wheels. Had to get them programed to my car, had to go to 3 different discount tire before they were able to program them to my car.

***The dealership will only program sensors into your car if you buy the sensors directly from them.***
