Default Anybody running trans/oil cooler on n/a or nonturbo engine?

Is anybody running any aftermarket oil/trans cooler on nonturbo or natural engine?

Does it help at all when tracking?

is it beneficial to install an aftermarket one or will it just restrict oil flow and lose oil pressure?

I've not read about any. But it honestly wouldn't be that difficult. There are two factory oiling ports that are capped off with large Hex key bolts right next to the front oil filter housing. One would only need to find out what fitting thread type and pitch would needed and install from there.

These are the holes/ports I'm talking about :

do you know if there is any performance gain?

ive read on other forums where if you did not have any boost, youll lose oil pressure, which is understandable since youre filtering oil into more space where it is not needed. and to continue onto this, if i run 4qts of oil now, will putting 5 or 6qts minimize the oil pressure lost (if it does lose pressure)?

No one has done this, so it is all an assumption. But yeah, there will be some oil pressure loss, no matter is N/A or boosted. I would add whatever amount to the engine that the capacity the oil cooler itself holds PLUS the amount that both oil lines can contain.

it is quite literal.

Its a component in a car where oil or transmission fluid runs through to cool down before being recirculated into the engine. Thus giving lower engine temperatures and some gains in some aspects.

RR-Racing has an oil cooler kit available for the IS-F. It might also be compatible with the IS350 if you want to give it a shot.

We need to know exactly what you're talking about first.

Some of the responses given have no basis whatever, I'll let you decide which.

uhhhh. What are YOU talking about? I don't understand.

Of course my car doesn't have an oil cooler, that's why I'm thinking about adding one.

he was snarkily pointing out that "oil/trans cooler" doesn't quite make sense (particularly the "oil/trans" bit) and was giving you reason to clarify in future posts so as to have your threads understandable by all.

Well, you could have an engine oil cooler and/or a transmission oil cooler (among other types of oil coolers), it sounds like the OP was asking about an engine oil cooler.

This has to be a "stock" photo because our cars don't have a oil filter housing that could utilize the above sandwich adapter. Very curious where on the IS-F those lines run to.

I don't believe it is a stock photo, the adapter fits on to the other side of the oil filter housing bracket where the stock cooler sits.

EDIT: One of the better pictures I could find that shows the stock setup on the 2nd Gen 2UR-GSE:

The idea in my head is...

put an oil temperature guage and only have the cooler run when above certain temps. Because cold oil: no good.

Thoughts?

I actually want oil and trans cooler and I mean to ask if anybody has either one installed or both.

^You can run a thermostatic setup that will only run the oil through the cooler systems once a certain temp is reached.
