What is your budget for such a project? I'm sure there is a shop in Cali that would take on the project for enough $$$.

well i was looking into getting an ISF but i want to do somethink unique to this car my goal is around 500whp for this car im a huge fan of the 2JZ so I'm keeping my options open. how much does this usually cost? because i can get a motor for 2,000 with 55k miles on it but the install would be done by a shop... just want to know the cost of this.

^^^He's obviously not going to leave it stock. FMIC, DP, MP, Exhaust, Injectors, USDM Twins or Single Turbo and tune will get him 500rwhp easily on 93 Octane. I've never seen anyone do a 2jz swap and leave it completely stock.

Do you know that the stated power of 280ps is not accurate, as that was just the maximum any Japanese company listed power at the time? I've seen them dyno as high as 290hp at the wheels stock.

The 2IS 2jz swap is probably not very common I know there was a shop in FL that did one in a IS250 may want to look that up. I've heard good thing about Kaizen Motorsports but not sure where you are in relation to them. Either way the biggest factors in this swap would be the top 4:

1. Motor Mounts...will need custom one since this swap isn't common these wouldn't be on shelf items anywhere.
2. Harness....will need a custom harness done. I'm not familiar with the 2IS so body plugs etc...may need additional custom work so everything functions normally.
3. Driveshaft.....will need a 1 piece one made.
4. Custom downpipe and midpipe to meet whatever exhaust you go with, I suggest minimum of 3" setup. If emissions is a factor obd2 port won't read anything.

5. FMIC you will have to piece that together, get a core then go custom piping.
6. Motor I suggest you go vvti 2jzgte, newer block plus vvti feature very beneficial for power under curve and some say mpg is better too.
7. Tuning, you can make 500rwhp but you need USDM twins and bigger injectors, usdm 550cc should be fine. Single turbo is an option but will add
to cost. Stock 2jz ECU will be fine for that just add in safc to help with fuel or go full standalone ECU but not all of them can control automatics.

Check the SC, 1 IS, and 2nd Gen GS forums for more information on items 6 and 7.
