Default Lexus IS 350 2006 Starter kit

Hello everyone,

I'm new to club Lexus and I would like some ideas for my 70k 06 is 350. My end goal is to tune it up, hid/leds, springs or coils, rims, exhaust (not too loud, but great sounding.. I'm in Cali), mid pipe, hellaflush style (don't know the right offset), canon drop in filter etc. I would also like to hear about what you guys did to your car and what you guys like and don't like. Lastly, any other tips to look out for whether maintence recommendations, or tips on how to still pass smog with having all the above mentioned, & make the car more quick would be appreciated. Looking forward to your responses

1.) be prepared to replace bulbs often if it runs HID.
2.) The 2GR-FSE motor makes a ticking and knocking like sound when cold the VVT= is the ticking
3.) when your alternator goes out (which it will around 140k miles replace alternator battery and alternator pulley.
4.) if you're doing intake stuff a K&N drop in is good. But i would go with the F-sport intake, as it is the best one.
5.) PPE ceramic coated headers are really good for more power (the car is really fast as is) a mid pipe adds power as well. You have quite a bit of room for wide wheels in the rear

baby your engine oil, the car should run forever i have 156k on mine and i do drive it sportingly. and still never had a major repair. I have an Injen intake, resonator delete and ppe headers i haven't installed yet. enjoy the car. don't rice it out as it is a very good sports car test it out in a twisty back road it'll surprise you.

to pass smog with headers and midpipe, get O2 conditioners and you should be fine

Here's a list of things that are relatively easy to do that make the car much better:

F sport intake
F sport sway bars
F sport or alternative springs
ISF Steering Damper
Catback exhaust (I've got 1st gen F-Sport and love it)
ISF Steering ECU ('11+ gives most benefit and dramatically changes steering feel)

Mines a 2006 with ~125k and the biggest problem I had was my AC evaporator drain got clogged and so when AC ran it could let water into the floor (Lexus replaced mine for free under warranty) This was an issue with some 06's so check your service history. Also, your IS probably falls under the Takata passenger airbag recall which they don't have a fix for yet. Basically, the Takata airbags have had problems and could potentially send metal shards into your passenger in an accident.

I agreed with others have already mentioned. For quieter exhuast with minimal drone but still give you the growl when putting your foot down I recommend Tanabe exhaust.
