Default IS250 6MT and gasoline

No I'm not asking can I get by w/87 or 89 bc that's a moot point. I'm going to run 93 all the time.

Question is, I have access to 93 ethanol free. I was thinking of getting this about 1/2 the time I fill and simply add Tech tron or Sea Foam as a detergent pkg. The other 1/2 getting Shell or Chevron 93 since its gonna be somewhat cheaper and laying off the additives.

Good idea, bad idea or complete waste of $$?

Why would you add Techron or Seafoam to your gas unless you're having fuel system issues? Any gasoline from a Tier 1 supplier should contain an additive package already. Is the ethanol free gasoline from some generic gas station and you don't know the quality you're getting? If so, I personally don't buy from no-name places anyways. From my understanding, ethanol doesn't put out as much energy as gasoline but is added because it's more environmentally friendly (less pollution, sourced from corn). So the ethanol free or (up to) 10% ethanol gasoline shouldn't make any difference in your car. Conclusion: just buy Tier 1, name brand gasoline. BTW, I co-owned a few gas stations for 9 years.
