2is Red Outs/Smoke
Hey everyone, I just recently picked up an 06 is350 in smokey granite mica and I like many others hate the orange on the tail lights. I was wondering if any of you guys have experience doing redouts/smoke on your tail lights? I also heard doing overlays on this model is a pain in the *** due to the amount of curves it has and for this reason I was thinking of taking the VHT spray route.
Also, when I talk about smoke, I'm talking about very lightly smoked - not blacked out. If you guys could post some pics too I'd appreciate it.

I used a light coat of plasti dip a long time ago (this was i think 2 coats). they sell a smoke one for lights, but I think a light black looks more appropriate. I have also used VHT night shade in the past, the dip is more user-friendly where you can just wipe it off with a microfiber (doesn't peel when this thin). I know dip is a pretty polarizing topic, just another option.

I paid like 7.00 off ebay. The vinyl is a little larger than the orange piece of the light. Its designed to where the edges match the lines of the tail light and you wont even notice that its on there at all.

I definitely think the red gives it a cleaner look, the smoke almost feels as if it's a tuner/rice effect on a lexus. I think I'm gonna go with those. Thanks for the pics, I'm just assuming you used the standard heat gun method? Any advice on how to approach it?
For the 06 the vinyl redouts work awesome...for me on my 09 the vinyls sucked
To apply its soapy water to soak it and get it lined up, then you squeegee the water and bubbles out when its lined up and it dries by itself

Yeah the red outs worked well for me as well.. I have the 2010 tails which are the amber turns which i can't stand as well.. now if I could just get my hands on a set of 11-13 tails with the white turn housing
I just purchased what I assume to be what the others stated as well. Did it have the reverse light cut out or did you need to cut it out once you applied the vinyl?
