Question OEM Led headlights module retrofit - is it possible?

Hey,

I am thinking of replacing outdated HID xenon light source to LED technology. I am no expert but I already tried retrofitting projector headlights into non-projector (reflector type) lamps without success. So at least I have some experience.

I really like RC-F led headlights and with a little photoshop I can imagine how nice could it be if it would be retrofitted to my Lexy.

On ebay there is a chance to get one of these (really expensive) but you can get cheaper IS 2014+ series
I really don't understand why this newer lamps are HALF the price as the prev (my model) models headlights. Would love those too but 2500 USD is too much for them (around the quarter of the whole car price used...)

So what do you think? Could be this retrofit possible? Loosing unreliable HID and ballast, ignitor etc?
What would be the wiring work needed? Any electronics? Would the computer accept it?
OFC I would want to preserve AFS as well.

LEDs currently can illuminate around 9000 lumens while HIDs can 6000 in the intersection of the 2 projected illuminated surface. 3000lumen per each.

Also I want to buy new transparent plastic headlamp housing - do any of you know where could i buy it? Dealer says its only avail with the whole headlamp assembly.

Thanks,
S

I was just thinking about this last night. All I can really say is it's possible but would require someone knowing the wiring of the OE lights, as well as some real solid fabrication (you could put the triple LED headlight design in there but making it have a fit and finish would be the challenge). I have no soldering / electrical experience so can't really comment on that but seeing everything that my friends are doing with their newer BMW headlights I'm confident it can.
