Sometimes when I try to fill up my tank on my 2011 IS250 AWD, the gas pump keeps shutting on and off. I've tried different gas stations and pumps, and the still problem occurs every now and then. I've tried to google the problem and came across suggestions that it might be the fuel tank relief valve is clogged?
Can anyone help?
If you take off your engine cover you will see a device sitting on top just to the side of the intake.
It looks like this:
It will have two hoses running to it and one electrical connection. This is where you will be able to do your trouble shooting to determine if it is the problem. I am pretty sure you will need to replace this. About $60 and no more than 3 minutes work.
I've had the issue too but I always thought I was just accidentally breaching the airlock on the pump itself. The video's got me wanting to look into this more. Thanks for sharing, Mrfix!
I haven't figure it out yet. It's starting to get cold here in Ontario so I will leave it until the spring or bring it into a auto shop for them to fix
If you get it fixed at an auto shop, let us know what they say was the issue if you can. I don't think I have the same issue but would appreciate the answers in case I run into it in the future. Hope you get everything in order soon!
