Passenger side axle replacement. Need help
Hello everyone, I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 that I'm changing the front passenger axle, My issue is the bearing is stuck in the transmission, I've tried hammering it and Pb blaster, but nothing seems to work, any tips??
Well, your best bet is to use a bearing puller slide hammer. You might be able to "rent" one at a local auto parts store if they have one. When removed, install the new bearing using the race of the old bearing surface to hammer against in order not to damage the new one.
I am currently having the same problem with a 2008 and I've tried everything to get it out.
When you buy this cv axel the bearing is attached it it. You also can't remove the axel unless this bearing comes out of its housing. I am currently having the same problem right now cause I can't get my right front passenger side axel out at all. it is stuck in the bearing housing and won't come out. I've tried almost everything to get it out. I sprayed it with numerous rust brakers. I even sprayed it with acid to eat some of the rust. I used a slide hammer on it, pry bars, air hammer. Nothing seems to work to get it out.
I had the same issue. After spending many hours trying to get it out I just took the car to my mechanic hoping he'd have better luck. He wasn't able to get it out either so he just split the shaft on the car and replaced the shaft from the inner boot on-wards.
Hope that makes sense.
