Clicking sound from engine area
What could be wrong with the clicking sound from the engine area? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Replace the accessory belt with a new OEM belt. I had similar noises at idle coming from my '06 years back and I thought it was one of the pulleys. Purchased a new pulley; but before I replaced it, I installed the new belt I had sitting around to see what it might do. It fixed my noise problem immediately!

It's the water pump. I had the same thing on my GS350 when it only had around 40k miles.

After what happened, I decided to take my car into the lexus service center the next morning. When I started and arrived at the center, the engine was running just fine. There was no unusual noise. A few days later, the noise came back but it was too late for me to bring my car back for a check-up. Since this post I haven't been able to resolve this on-again, off-again, problem. It's so annoying. Thanks everyone for your reply. I will update my post with any new news.

The clicking noise came back at around 65k and they found the noise to be from a bad alternator, the alternator and the belt were replaced. Problem solved.

Environmental factors such as humidity and condensation from swift temperature changes can induce belt slip and noise.
My suggestion to anyone thinking the drive belt is potentially responsible; take a spray bottle to your running engine and mist the belt with water. Can you duplicate the sound? If yes, its likely not an issue but a new belt may reduce the slip and sound. Replace the belt.
Be wise and keep body parts out of the fans and belts when doing this test. And no, a little h2o is not going to harm anything but it may spray out on you.
