Wed wheel hubcentric ring question crossposted
 

I'm cross posting this thread because of lack of response. Hopefully my fellow IS owners can help me out here. Let's face it, we have the majority of the highly modified Lexus' around. Mods, please don't close this because it's in the wrong place, already placed it in the right place.

Sup everyone..so I just got a brand new set of Weds and had them mounted onto a brand new set of tires. When I went to have them installed I noticed they didn't come with hubcentric rings. So I took them off my old set of wheels and placed them inside the Weds. Well I noticed I was getting steering vibrations so after a few days I took it back to the shop that mounted them and had them redo it..they weren't perfect so they redid it and got them to 0.0 after leaving they're better but not perfect like my last set. I was told by someone that I don't necessarily NEED those hubcentric rings and claimed he's seen a few cases where the rings caused the vibration. Is this true or even possible? So my question is this, do Wed wheels require the rings or not since they didn't come with them? Do I even need to have the rings? Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

100% need hubcentric rings on aftermarket wheels unless you ordered your wheels to match the hub of your car or like the F Sport wheels that are design for lexus... its cheap to order they come in either plastic or aluminum a lot of people on here prefer plastic rings... u can google the hub and bore size of your wheels...

It is possible the rings you're using on those WEDs are not the correct spec, thus given you some undesirable feedback. Find out what the I.D. of the hub is on those WEDs and purchase aluminum rings that match up to them AND the Lexus.

If you put the old rings in the rims, do the rings sit flush with the center of the rim? Are they snug or quite loose?

They do sit flush but slightly loose as if you lay the rim down, it'll slip right out.

did u order rings that are 73mm- 60.1mm?

Yeah, that's not a good fit. Mine took a rubber mallet to seat flush and DO NOT come out.

The ones I have came with the wheels. The ones on their way are being provided to me by the shop I bought the wheels from, Sonic motors.

mine are polycarbonate, not metal. They don't fight to go in like Gville350's, but there is no play when they are in. I've never had problems with the wheels, and they have been on and off a lot. I was thinking maybe yours "stuck out" a bit, and therefore wouldn't let you tighten the wheel properly, but it doesn't sound like that is the problem. Hope the new rings will solve the problems for you.

Thought I'd ask, just to rule it out. You aren't using the stock lugs are you?

I can tell you for a fact they you'll need them as I had slight vibrations with my SSR wheels until i purchased and installed the SSR aluminum rings.

I checked Weds website and looks like they don't offer their own hub rings like SSR does. However measure up the center bore of the SSR wheels and if they are 79.5 you'll be able to use the SSR rings which are of great quality and required a rubber mallet just like Gville350 and even come with a snap ring.
