Rear differental leak
Anyone come across their differential leaking? I have 149k Miles and had the dealer change the fluid I think back around 100k or so.
Is this something that just leaks with age or could the dealer may not have done something right. Not sure how long it's been leaking. Is this something I could do myself?

Is the leak from the drain plug? Hard to tell from the pics. You can try to tighten it a bit. 10mm hex key is needed.
There is a metal washer that goes on the plug. I wonder if they lost it, but then I would have expected it to start leaking almost immediately. If you aren't sure where the leak is coming from, you should clean it up with solvent, dry it and then check later. Overnight might do it.
If it is coming from the oil seal around the axle shaft, then you probably can't do that yourself. And they will probably hit you up for a high bill. I mean you can do it yourself, but it will require disconnecting pretty much the entire suspension for that one wheel and prying the axle shaft out of the diff, then replacing the seal.
If you want to remove the drain plug to see if it is dirty or the washer is missing, remember to loosen the fill plug first. You don't want to drain the diff, then later find out the fill plug is stuck and you might have to take it some where.

Truthfully, that looks like the axle seal. There is a chance that the diff was overfilled and coming out of the breather at the top when the fluid is hot. Check on top of the diff, near the rear.. Check to see if the breather is coated in oil..

Maybe that's what I smell when I rev really high? It gets on the pipe?

Probably not a good idea to jack up on differential.
Section 4.3 Do it yourself maintenance. pg 267, in my pdf manual.
