Airbag light on?? What should I do?
Sooooo here's the thing. Today upon start up when leaving from the haircut place I noticed that my air bag light didn't turn off like usual. I proceeded to drive my car around for a bit and restart the engine a few times but the light still stays on?
I read elsewhere on the forum that this basically means that my air bags are now useless in the event of an accident. And repairs are around $3k!!!! This in my opinion is absolute BULL!!
However I also realize that there is a new recall for our vehicles concerning Takata airbags and I'm now wondering if I should just leave my car like this until that recall comes around? I know there are literally millions of vehicles affected by the Takata issue and it may not be till next year that anything gets done about this, but do you guys think I should just wait it out? $3k is waaaay to much money for me to be spending on a repair. Shoot, if I knew this was a problem maybe I would have just stuck BMW (-_-) .

How much it will cost to repair will depend what is wrong. It could be expensive, it could be inexpensive. Without knowing what is wrong it's hard to know.
As far as leaving the ABS disabled until the Takata recall happens, it's an option for sure, but I'd still find out what's wrong if I were you, for safety.

I found a air bag module on ebay. 80.00 I have a mechanic who will install it. But im not too sure if I still have to go to the Dealership to get it programmed by Lexus. ..or since they didn't install it and it's not a dealership part. I'm aware of the recall ...Mass Dealership is not acknowledging that Recall. .. Really... lol ok well when I die from my airbag not working I'll let my family know to sue Lexus. Give me a Loaner til it's fixed. Haha

How did they come to the conclusion that is was the srs module?
My advise is to use Techstream scan tool software to read the srs codes. More times than not it is a sensor etc.
To answer your question, as long as the srs module is the correct version and doesn't have any hard coded errors I believe it should be plug and play.
