my Lexus IS250 2007 audio system has a problem. when i turn my audio system on, sub woofer make a sound like knocking and after that no sound.
I tried radio and aux and they are the same, no sound.

I tried to unplug the woofer and it didn't work again.

Do you have the Mark Levinson system? I'm thinking it might be a bad amp.

Yeah sounds like a bad amp like Bichon mentioned however I'm not very experienced in this area.

Hmmm.. Maybe it's just your cars way of saying that it's time to upgrade the factory stereo system ?

Wait you mean all your speakers don't work or just the subwoofer?? Because mine blew out about a year ago and haven't bothered replacing it yet . It's a common problem on Mark Levinson equipped models.

What I meant to say is, does your car stereo play any music at all? Or is it just the subwoofer not working?

No it does not play anything.
I mean Audio system shows it is playing in audio system display, but there is no sound.

In that case that is not a common problem. Maybe you should have a Lexus tech take a look at it. It could be the amp but then again it could be anything really. Sorry if I'm not of much help. Good luck

I can't say honestly since it hasn't happened to me nor have I heard of this issue personally. Maybe some one else can chime in on this with more experience than myself. This is why I said you should probably call up Lexus, set up an appointment and have someone knowledgeable look at it. That way you'll know exactly what you need and they can give you a price quote for parts and labor. If it's too much, I'm sure you can alternatively take it to a reputable stereo shop and they can replace what needs to be replace with something of higher quality .

If you just bought the car, most dealerships even 3rd party have a 30day warranty incase anything goes wrong.

Check with them and see if they will remedy your issue.

I'd visit a local stereo shop and have them test the factory amp. To me, it sounds like its in permanent "protection mode." But before you do this, check that the amp is actually in trunk...passenger's side. Remove the black plastic piece and you should see it right there. Then check that it has all of the connections tightly connected to the amp.

Good luck!

^No. It's in the trunk. Open trunk, remove the black plastic piece on the passenger side of the trunk floor, and the amp is below it.
