Hi

Need some advice on how to clip on the random J-hook to the battery? I'm getting a bit of sideways play on the bracket and I'm worried the battery isn't going to be secured.

Is the small metal clip above the J-hook supposed to be along the bottom of the battery tray?

Like mentioned above thev J hook has the sheet metal brace. If we are talking about the one facing the front of car. Next to the fuse box. If you flash a light in that area. You can see it has a slit on the tray. You want to position the hook below the tray. Then press the hook into the slit. Once you do this gently pull the thread side up until the sheet metal brace hits the bottom of the tray.

This allows some support to hold the J hook from sinking as you put the battery in the tray.

Then secure the brace back on to the rear, and front hook. You have to hold the front side again. Flash the light down again, and make sure the sheet metal side stays underneath the tray as you tighten the nut.

If it's still too loose for your liking find something to shim the battery up, or opt to purchase the Fig Engineering battery tie down.

That's what I'm running at the moment.

So I’m currently having this issue right now, took my battery to be recharged plus tested under warranty, and part #3 from the figure is complete loose. Like when I put the battery in it completely falls down and only way to lift it back up is removing the battery. I tried to use tape to hold it but even when I caught the the top clamp to it it’s still loose and doesn’t even stay secured to the battery tray. I’ll have to wait until Monday to probably have dealer secure it.

im pretty sure part 3 needs to be replaced. Ps my father in law tot it’ll be smart to bend the part that connects to the battery tray when I had my back turned lol.

Hi All

So figured out how to tie the stock battery bolt down and just wanted to share some tips to pay it forward.

Basically all I did was I just pulled the bolt to the side towards the air box, dragged the bolt up the battery tray until it couldn't move, then I wiggled the bolt towards the air box and then towards the passenger side. The end result should be that the bolt's shaft is as far towards the passenger side as possible and when you pull up the bolt stays stationary.

I've attached some pics as well to put into perspective what the end result looks like from a disassembled box.

Bolt shaft final.

Bottom of bolt.

This does help, was it hard to remove the battery tray? I feel I might have to do that if I can’t postion it without seeing.

I got the part online so I wouldn't be able to tell you how easy it is to remove the tray. There's a couple of electrical components that have to be removed but without a looking at a parts diagram it probably is very straightforward.

The issue you'll run into will be visualizing it but how I got mine in was I used a wiggling motion while simultaneously pulling upwards.

I've attached a vid.

I will try again let keep you updated. I feel like my part is bent that’s why it’s not catching, will take some pics too. This helps greatly thanks!

Yup. I had that issue too. I bought a new bolt just to make sure and cursed the hell out of Lexus for designing their car like this.

But I guess it beats a Mitsubishi or a BMW.
