and it stayed down. I can still operate the twist of the **** but its stuck down. Is something broken?

The 2nd gen IS doesn't have a tone button. Bass and treble are adjusted from the touchscreen on cars so equipped, and by pressing the "Audio Cont" button on cars with the standard audio system.

That said, I've seen the type of button you describe on other vehicles. It is normally pushed in, but if you push it again it will pop out to make it easier to grip.

 

Yes your right no tone control. However, it is stuck down. Pushing it again does nothing . Its like half the height now. Don't want to break it so better stop messing with it.
