Default fuel pressure sensor replaced!

I have a 08 is350 and last week it wouldn't start so took it to lexus dealer changed the fuel gasket which is part of a recall and didn't solve the issue. So they ended up changing the fuel pressure sensor which is about $1800 that owe them now! My question is, is it because of fuel gasket fuel pressure sensor went bad? Called lexus headquarter they denied it. If anyone else had the same issue please help. Thanks

Did they replace the high pressure fuel pump or just a sensor? That seems VERY high just for a sensor. That pump mounted onto the top-end of the motor though would cost that much.

The sensor is $336.63 list price in the USA, labour to replace it should be in the 3-4.5 hour range.

I would put that in the $800-950 range'ish.

If it was in fact the sensor and not the pump, yes it is possible for the sensor to be damaged during the recall, quite easily if it is not done properly, there are warnings through the instructions about it in fact.

That said, if it wasn't the sensor that was replaced, then no, it would likely not have been caused by the recall.
