Default Trans Problem

Hey Guys,
I have a 2008 IS250 RWD. It has 140K miles. Runs great. Here is my problem.
If I'm driving down the freeway in between 75-79 mph and I get on the gas to pass someone on the freeway it will down shift but it delays, the rpms go up to 5000 and then it will violently slam into gear making the tires chirp. If I get out of the gas so the rpms dont go up so high it still slams into gear its just not as harsh. Lexus San Diego told me it needs a new transmission for the sum of $5000. I paid $12,000 for the car. YES I've tried to reset the ECU and Lexus San Diego check the ECU for and updates. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

Looks like you've already been told how to stop this problem.

I don't believe that is the solution. I've read that the GS has had the same issue and it was the TPS sensor. So asking if anyone else has had this problem. But thanks for the smart *** reply. 👎🏽

You provided absolutely no information. Is there a DTC that the trans set? How exactly did you try to reset the ECU? It sounds like you don't want the solution to cost your $5k. I have a free solution, just push the car wherever you need to go. I'm only a Lexus master tech, so what the hell do I know...

What's a DTC? I unhooked the battery.

How have I provided no information? I stated exactly what the car does and at what mph.

Have you try to flush oil transmission at dealer? Most likely transmission solenoid problem. There are post about this issue in CL.

Did the dealership actually reflash the trans ecu? Another member recently found out there was an updated flash available for our transmission. It seemed to have fix his issue for the time being. Definitely cheaper than a new or used trans. Worth a shot.

That's a good question. I'll make an appointment with Lexus to have that done.

Yes Lexus dealer updated my IS350 transmission ECU because I have code P0761 and P0894. One awhile it stuck on 3rd gear and sometime slipping.

Been couple of week and I have change 2 quart of transmission oil from the pan and so far so good. No code. They only charge me $65 for diagnostics.

The same I think, but at least no check engine light and code. Will see how long it will last.
