car top carrier opinions
ok so i just got another person added to my road trip this summer from phoenix to minnesota so I'm gonna have 3 people(including me) and a dog squished into my 2is. anyways I'm fearing that all our stuff won't fit in the car and was wondering if anyone else had had any experience with this car top carriers that don't require a rack. also would like to know how it effected your gas mileage when using it.

How much 'crap' are you hauling along? Three suitcases should easily fit in the trunk with room to spare. It's all about packing light. No need in tossing in the kitchen seat on the road trip. I do feel bad for the person sitting in the back. Hopefully your copilots are not tall.
Is this a sight seeing trip with stops along the way? How many travel days on the road do you have planned? I drove from Duluth MN to Boulder CO. Woke up the next morning and drove to Bakersfield California. 1,100 miles each day.
Making good time on the road involves road snacks light on the drinks. Only stop for fuel & to drain your tank. Any time not moving forward along the interstate is wasted time. I tend to call it a day after 17 hours behind the wheel. Any longer and I get too sleepy to continue. Know your boundaries and for the sake of your life and those with you don't push yourself too far. Enjoy your trip!
