Default Error codes P2238 & P2241

Sup guys.........
My engine light is on and checked the codes. Error code P2238 & P2241.
P2238 - a/f sensor
P2241 - ox(o2) sensor
So my questions are straight forward. Do codes (P2238) specify which sensor is faulty OR is it being generic for just a problem? There are 2ea ox sensors as well as 2ea a/f sensors. How do I know which one is exactly faulty? Do I change all sensors, which is bank, or do I start with one and continue on?
Im surprised no one else has had this issue , couldn't find anything in the search log

When you look up the code, it will reference either bank 1 or bank 2. For the Lexus 2IS:

Bank 1 = passenger side
Bank 2 = driver side

Hey Bichon I finally found out the info I needed, took me hours calling people and looking it up.
I will do a DIY once I get the sensors in the mail, much cheaper than the store costs. This is what I found;
P2238 - divers side at the manifold ( bank 1/ sensor 1) note that upstream means closest to engine
P2241 - pass side at the manifold (bank 2/ sensor 1)
An a/f (air fuel ratio) sensor is not a heated oxygen sensor.
Also note that I will clean out the maf sensor, reset codes, and see if that does anything. O2 sensors do not need replacing by the years but by mileage.

^Yes, try the MAF-specific cleaner first. Reset the vehicle by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes, then reconnect. Immediately drive the car how you would on a normal basis, so the computer re-learns your driving style and shift points.

More than likely the codes will return though; so be prepared to fork out the $$ for new, quality sensors (NOT BOSCH). Plus, if you end up doing the job yourself, you'll want to invest in a nice O2 sensor removal tool.

True. I've done plenty of work on my turbo f350 as well as other vehicles I have. This is cake. Try draining 15 gallons of coolant and hit every point on the engine as well. Imma buy the tool, from harbor freights or somewhere, and nock it out. As I do that I have my 250amp alt. And water pump, pulleys and belt I'm doing all at once. Oh snap not to mention doing tha big 3 upgrade.

My apologies for bumping an old thread, I'm hoping that someone else may find my anecdotal experience useful.

I got a CEL for my Lexus IS F, which the OBD scanner returned as a P2241 error for Bank 2 Sensor 1. Hopefully I'll get this issue resolved this week.

When the CEL comes on, the TRC OFF light appears as well; I wasn't sure whether the warning light was merely an additional warning due to the P2241 error that didn't actually affect traction control (e.g. as a secondary backup warning in case the CEL fails to light up), or if having the CEL also disabled traction control, and a thorough Google search didn't really net me any answers. My original assumption was that, surely, an O2 sensor would have nothing to do with traction control. Well, today I just found out that the P2241 error does indeed also disable traction control, as I lost traction while flooring it fast through a turn. This was a turn that I regularly took quickly, rain, hail or shine, which was what surprised me; I maintained control out of the turn, so fortunately there were no dramas there, despite the unexpected sideways action.

So, turns out that the TRC OFF light that appears with the check engine light, at least for OBD code P2241, does indeed disable traction control. I assume this is some sort of failsafe implemented by the ECU to ensure that the traction control system doesn't get in the way unexpectedly while an OBD error is present?

DID YOU EVER FIGURE THIS OUT!? Also not a common code cause I just subscribed to AllDataDIY and bought TechStream plug to figure this out lol

im thinking bad ECU or wire harness. I can feel some play when I plug in my new Denso os2. Bought this used for my son so I don’t know the history.

my also next plan is replace both down stream sensors, ign coil, spark plug, check exhaust leak, replace battery. Also check fuse lol
