Default IS 250 Oil leak

Hello everyone,

I have a 2007 Lexus IS 250. I did an oil change about 3-4 months ago. About 3 weeks ago, I started getting the "oil maintenance soon" sign and about a week ago I started getting the "oil maintenance required " sign. I checked the dipstick and oil level is about half way between yhethe two ticks. Just a few days ago I noticed that the car was leaving behind 5 quarters size oil leak on the ground overnight. I squeezed under the car today to see where it was coming from. The oil filter looked fine with no oil residue or anything. I did see fresh oil under my oil pan. There were about 3 drops clinging on to the pan. I checked the bolt for the pan and it seemed like it was tightly in place. There was also no oil around the bolt. Any idea what could be wrong and where this oil is leaking from? Any advice will be highly appreciated!

Time to look at the motor through the top and see if you can find any trails of oil.

Are you sure that you installed a new washer along with the drain bolt during the last oil change?

YES! There is a nylon-type crush washer that needs to be replaced on the drain bolt on EVERY oil change. If you purchase the oil filters from your local dealership, ensure they toss in a new washer into the box or give you one.

Crap!! Should I just do another oil change then? I just checked and I see that I did my oil change 6,000 miles ago in December, 2014. I mean it'd be kinda hard to replace the washer without draining the oil anyways right?

You're getting close to where I usually change the oil (7k); might as well get it over with to ensure fresh oil AND no leaks going forward!
