Default Headlight Level Sensor... Has this ever happened to anyone?

Was driving through NYC and realized my lights were pointing straight at the ground. I noticed that the AFS light was blinking. So I pulled to the side and looked under my car, behind the driver side wheel to find that the Headlight Level Sensor Connecting Arm ( the link from the sensor to the control arm) had snapped in half! I was shocked.

It may have been due to all of the pot holes in NYC, but im wonderin if anyone has done this. I drive an 07 AWD is250 with only 67,000mi. I called lexus and the replacement rod and sensor is $500... being an engineer, I used super glue, tape and zipties to hold me over until I find a more permanent solution.

I bet it was a pothole too. I'd look on ebay or local parts yards for a used unit/piece to scavenge from.

I found out that my sensor arm broke as well. Did you ever find just the arm? What was your permanent fix?

The part here in Canada is $855 for the sensor and arm as one unit. They don't sell just the arm.

I too may MacGyver something as I think it's crazy to spend the money when the sensor is working perfectly.

Any advice you can provide is much appreciated.

TLS Auto Recycling should have used ones on hand for a reasonable price.
