Default Keep A/C Setting "On" when car shuts off?

2011 IS 250 with Nav/camera: Is it possible to have the A/C stay in the "on" mode after the ignition is shut off? So in other words, the next time I start the car (whether remotely or manually) the A/C comes on automatically? I am getting a remote starter put in and wonder if in the summer, can I remote start the car and have the A/C come on (as I last left it) to cool the car down, same way you'd have the heat settings warming the interior up in winter. I tried using the "auto" button and the A/C did not come back on again upon restart. Thanks

If you shut the car off when the AC is on auto, doesn't it stay on auto when you start the car again?

Yardie,
I tried the auto button and shut car off. When I turned it back on the A/C did not come back on automatically.

If I leave the ac on when the car is shut off the next I start it it will be on the same speed as when turned off. Never used the auto button.

Aaron,
When I turn the car back on, yes, the FAN SPEED is at the same speed setting, but the actual "A/C" cooling button is off.
So I have to go out to the car, and push the A/C button "on" again to cool the car.
Is there a way to get the A/C button to say ON when car is shut off so next time it's on already?
Not sure if your '07 with nav is the same as the '11 with nav?

Aaron,
Is your '07 the exact interface as the '11? Just wondering if they changed it in the newer model?

I'm with Aaron and Yardie, the A/C comes on when the car is restarted if it was on when the car is turned off.

My car is an '06, but I've witnessed the same behavior in the myriad of service loaners I've driven over the years.

I see that you are in MA, catsnmusic, and my phone says that it's 22 degrees in Boston right now. I do believe that the A/C turns off when the ambient temperature is extremely cold. Could that be what you are seeing, or does your car do the same thing in hot weather?

Bichon,
I am in Boston. And I just got the car, so I have not driven it in the summer yet. I bet that is it. It's 25 degrees today.
PS: The A/C button DOES glow green ("ON") if I put it on manually. It just doesn't come back on automatically when I turn ignition back on. So is it only the "AUTO" A/C feature that is affected when temp outside is low? Just trying to make sure I follow why button glows on if I manually activate it. Wouldn't it not at all if outside is cold? Hope I am making sense.

Perhaps it is allowing you to turn it on manually to de-fog the windows, but not letting it come on automatically, since running the compressor for a prolonged period in those conditions is not a good idea. In any event, I wouldn't waste a lot of effort worrying about what the A/C is doing in subfreezing weather.

I think it's likely your problem will disappear as soon as the temperature climbs into the upper 40s or higher. Tomorrow is the first day of spring, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

True, but what brought the question up for me is that I am having a remote starter installed tomorrow, so in winter and summer months I can heat and cool the car from inside the house. If the A/C for some reason did not automatically come on when ignition is fired up, it would kind of be useless to spend the money on the remote starter. That's why I asked.

I never been to that cold weather, so I don't know if that's the normal behavior for the car, but when my AC is ON when I turn the car off, it will automatically come back ON when I start the car again (the Auto setting doesn't matter). You should check to see if the car normally does that in cold temps, if not, it should be fixed.
