You don't need a battery. Tell them to replace the alt and re-charge the battery. It's just coming up bad as the life has been sucked out of it.

We told you it was the alternator. You could also have gotten an alternator from an auto parts store and had an independent mechanic for cheaper also. Just FYI.

only reason i went to Lexus dealership was because i thought i was going to get the battery pro-rated...which they denied...

i was going to buy new alternator from eBay for $200 and pay my local mechanic $200 to install...would have saved $300.

i always make stupid costly decisions and ask for advice but never listen...

i think i should see a doctor about this...what do u guys think...never mind, i'm probably not going to listen to your advice...

atleast i can admit i have a problem!!!

Great advise indeed, my 08 IS250 with 80K miles just did this to me, exact same symptoms and found this thread - got the alternator from AutoZone for 160 bucks and installed it myself (pain in the f'ng *** to get to the lower bracket nut). Now my battery light comes on when I hit high RPMs, need to check connections to make sure they're not lose, if they're all good anyone know if I need to reset codes or anything with the computer?

The interwebs says I could have bought a defective part (I guess it’s possible), especially if the part has been setting on a shelf for a long time.

Thanks!!!

OH man just did this
That one mount point below behind is not even needed
I ended up pulling the 12mm nut off and then the stud as well and did not put it back on
Pulled the ECU box out for room to pull the alternator out as well
All back in and seems good now

Hey I'm having the exact same issue. Except I bought new alternator and new battery. Even under load the battery is at a constant 14.4V. did you resolve this issue?
