quick question about tire sizes
Hello,
I am getting ready to order some tires from tire rack, and the representative there didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I asked the following question:
"I previously had OEM tires that seemed to sit much lower to the ground than my khumo ecsta tires, in other words, it seemed the tread on the OEM's were thinner and had that more "low profile" look, whereas the khumo's seemed to be bulkier and looked less sleek and aggressive. The rep stated that all the tires will have the same look to them if they are made for the lexus is 250, and I just visualized it looking different.
I am pretty sure there is a relatively huge difference in tread width/bulkiness when it comes to tires for the IS. If you get a cheaper more "all purpose" tire, it will be, or at least look, bulkier in the tread when viewing the wheel from the side, whereas a more sporty tire will be thinner.
Is there any way to know which tire will have that thinner low profile look to it, based on the specs of the tire? FYI, I am looking at purchasing the following:

THANKS!

If you get the same size the profile will be the same no matter what tire your get. The only difference will be the tread pattern and the handling of the tire. More performance tires will have blockier tread and maybe slightly less tread depth and will have a stiff sidewall. All seasons tires will have more tread cutt-outs and slightly thicker tread.
