Default Rear sunshade issues

Hello members!

I have a problem with my power sunshade. Like 3 weeks ago, i used it for the last time and today i wanted to use it, pushed the button and nothing happened. I can hear a click sound, like a relay or something near the sunshade area but it doesn't go up.

I tought it was a fuse but i checked it and it is good.

I've had a similar issue on mine. It turned out to have stuck the last time I put it down. Pretty simple to sort... Just get someone to press the button while you pull and prise the shade upwards... It'll just pop and you're good to go

I tried your suggestion. I got my brother to push the button while I carefully pulled it up. It didn't move.

I tried to push the button repeatedly and the click sound changed some times to a different one, is like something Is stuck.

Is there a way that I can open that area so I can inspect what's going on?

Default Rear sunshade stuck with click sound when press button

Hi

Did you solve the issue? I do have similar issue and also didn't work when tried to force it down or up. Lexus told me deal with it or spend thousands of dollars for replacement which pissed me off.

Hate to bump an old thread. But anyone have a fix? There's a YouTube video with a guy that fixed his ES. It was a teeth that broke off of a plastic gear. He removed the broken piece and fixed it.

Default Fixed mine...

[QUOTE=istarzan;12051492]

I opened mine up and saw the broken teeth they had lodged and made it stick. I pulled the broken pieces out and just put it back together and it works with a couple of missing teeth. At some point I'll probably buy a couple of old ones from a junkyard or something and take them apart and keep all the gears for future reference. Someone ought to 3D print these.

Don't pull on the shade, remove the entire unit in order to open it up.
