Headlight assembly for 2007 Lexus IS250
I need to replace the headlight assembly on drivers side and am just going to replace both. I got an estimate from a local body shop which was very $$. This was (according to him) because I have xenon headlights. This (I believe) was based off my VIN (?).
I've read about looking for AFS on/off to determine if I have HID (and if I have HID then I have xenon(?). ) - I JUST RAN OUT AND CHECKED AND I DO HAVE AN AFS ON/OFF OPTION ON heads up display.
I guess I figured if I had xenon lights I'd know it but I'm really not sure. He said if they were xenon and I wanted to buy "regular" - they'd just have to change out the bracket.
The quote was around 350 for a regular headlight assembly versus almost $900 for xenon.
I can provide more information if need be. Thanks!

The reason behind yours being more expensive is because of the motors needed for operating the AFS function. If you like the AFS function being on (like I do), you'll probably want to keep the same headlights. BUT, if you don't care, then you can get them w/o them. Might through an error code though.
Anyhow, you have HIDs; so you will be looking at the more expensive housing for those two facts.

Thank you for your response! The aggravating thing is that I never knew I had them and I think it's been turned off the entire time!
They wanted $1900 to replace both headlight assemblies. That stings.
Do the HID (xenon lights) always go with the AFS (adaptive front lighting system)?
In other words, if I don't get the AFS housings, am I stuck with halogen only?
