Midnight taillights

Midnight taillights
Has anyone done this on their IS before? Basically instead of blacking out the outside of the tails, you take them apart and black out the inner chrome. The effect you get is a "midnight taillights" effect that come on the newer style bentleys. I'm not a fan of straight up blacked out tails, but feel these will match very well on a SGM
Here is an example on a g37 (taillight work done by Oneighty in NYC)
Without adieu, progress so far on my 09 tail light.
Dremeled apart, interior components removed (pita) and ready for paint!
Will paint later this week as its getting late. Can't wait for the final results!

Unfortunately the taillights are sealed shut unlike the headlights which you can bake and soften the silicone. Only way to open was to dremel them . I had a spare 09 tail light lying around and used it as a tester. Just finished painting and waiting for it to cure. Reassembly by this weekend

Can you take some pics before you seal them up?
Also, don't use silicone to reseal the lights! I've seen my friend do retrofits a few times and he always uses butyl tape for no leaks.
