GS350 GRL10 or 2014+ IS350 transmission into 2IS Chassis?
Hey CL,
After driving around in Sport/Manual mode in my GS350 F-Sport and in my friends 2014 IS350 F-Sport, I have grown to love how responsive the transmission is between switching gears and I also have to admit, the rev-match downshift is also pretty cool.
I know that between the new GS350, and IS350, that the egines are almost* identical to those found in our 2IS. My question to you guys is, do you think its possible to switch out the transmission in order to achieve a faster transmission shift, and rev-match down shift? Would the ECU in our current gen play a role in the swap?
Please post your thoughts and opinions

well we know it will bolt in with maybe a shorter drive shaft since it is the same engine and rear diff. The 3is is maybe a couple inches maybe less than an inch longer underneath. The transmission ECU will be the issue getting it to work well with everything else. Its definitely worth a look imo

The 8spd tranny uses it's own ecu like the ISF setup, right? You would need a way to integrate the TCM with your 2is infrastructure and that will not happen without a seriously creative and ingenious custom wire harness. OR you try to run it as the current 6spd auto is setup in the 2is....it may mechanically work. OR you buy the necessary pieces from the 3is and swap them to your 2is. We are talking the main room engine harness ($2400), DS, TCM and likely a few other supporting pieces. You'd basically be building a platform to swap an ISF motor in as well. Lol
