Default Purchasing 2011 IS350 - What to look out for?

Hi Everyone,

I have plans on driving out of state this weekend to go pickup a 2011 IS350. I'm excited because I haven't been apart of this forum/lexus family too much since the death of my SC400 a few years ago.

I tried to do some forum searching and found this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

But it doesn't really include much info about 2011/newer models.

I wanted to know of any issues that these cars were prone to? For example with SC400's it was common for the LED needles to go out, trunk struts to fail, telescopic steering to stop working, etc.

Any help appreciated!

common issue with 350s was premature water pump failure but that was with pre 2010 models

I'd still watch out for the water pump though. Do the '11 IS350s quality for the "cam rattle" recall? Besides looking for excess front tire inner camber wear, I'd not worry about anything really.

I don't have a reserve but the dealer ship as two

- White 2011 with 34K miles AWD w/ Navigation System package & Premium Plus package
- Black 2011 with 40K miles RWD w/ fsport package - 1,400 cheaper

The black being RWD is really drawing me in. I'm going to drive both and decide. Does anyone prefer one over the other?

If you don't drive in snow much, you don't really need AWD. AWD, i believe, is a bit heavier and accelerate a little bit slower than the RWD. I also prefer the Black one with F Sport package because it handles better than the stock while it still feels comfortable and not too harsh. This is from my own experience of driving 2 IS, one with luxury package and the other is F Sport. I like them both.

Yeah, it would really depend on whether you can skate by without needing AWD in the winter time or if you have a winter beater.

Either way, as long as they are IS350s...it's a win-win!

I live at the beach. I hardly ever see snow. But I'm not a fan of the fsport idea. It makes it a lot more sportier but in my opinion its trying to be a "WRX." If I wanted a WRX, I'd buy a STI not a 350 with a sports package haha. I'd miss all the leather.

I'm going to be making my IS a VIP car. I know the IS isn't real "vip" but I prefer the look over the GS too much.

It's more so the RWD that's drawing me in haha.

I got the AWD 350 for the rain more than the snow out here in Seattle. I would always spin my tires in the rain, the AWD might be .1 seconds slower than the RWD but I never loose grip

Anyhow good luck, hope you get what you want!
