well im the middle of a galant /evo project...so when i made a purchase of my 09 awd is250 i really didnt want a "performance" vehicle...i just really wanted a daily driver to get me from point A to point B...but of course, me being on here just goes to show that i simply dont wanna leave the IS alone..as much as i said i would...if u just want it as a "getting around car" then its ok...everything that was said is true though, to keep up in highway traffic your foot has to be almost all the way down on the pedal, ive never really driven an is350, but its only after coming on here i see that they are 13 second cars stock..which is incredible, at least for me..im making exterior modifications to my IS but after its paid off or when im not so upside down on my loan i will definately trade it in for a is350 or isf if my money situation is right and ill simply swap over the parts...the 250 feels sluggish..even though i dont race on the street, nor have i since i was a teenager it will feel good if i had a hundred more hp for just a couple more thousand dollars...really look into an older is350 if u can, im sure they are about the same price of a year newer is250...with that said, go for the 350

I purchased an 09 IS250 RWD a few months ago, I drive 95% highway and i'm coming from a Mini S and a Silverado with the 6.0 engine. I wanted something that got good gas mileage and I wasn't wanting to race, the Mini and truck bring out my aggressive side, and man it can be aggressive! lol So now that i've been driving it for a little while, I actually really like it, I have absolutely no problems passing on the highway and i'm constantly having to take my foot off the gas, and it's sooo smooth, like it's gliding, and I like that, I like that it calms me down. The Mini is a blast, man you can really throw it around and it's fun, not so fun when it's in the shop every other month though.

if you arent concerned about power and gas mileage is what you are after, then the 250 is a good choice. but being an is350 owner, my gas mileage isnt horrible and i drive 30 min to work and 30 min home everyday. i still average about 22-23mpg

your mpg figures are pretty off. You can only get down to the 10-12 mpg if your tracking your car. I routinely get 18 mpg in the city and 20+ with some highway mixed in. I also do not drive like a grandma.
I believe you got all your figures from one thread that you posted. If you do a search you'll see multiple threads where people are reporting a much higher mpg figure. Also, lexus rates the IS350 at 20/27 mpg; do you really think the true value is half of that?! EPA can be a little off, but 50% is not realistic.
The is250 is known to get about 1 mpg better than the IS350

if ur getting 19-20 doing city driving then your only lucky dude, i read every single post on mpg and some people dont even get that on the highway, just read some posts on here about that, if i could get 19-20mpg city i would def get a 350. Anyone else wanna throw their opinion at this?
I get 19 MPG with 75% highway/25% city.
With mostly city driving you'll probably get 12-16 MPG.

my is350 on the freeway going to cali i averaged 28 mpg. in the city(which is most of my commute) my car is comfortably in the 20-22mpg range, 23 if im really just cruising not mashing at all best case scenario. anything less and you just have a lead foot and dont realize it

I've never wished for more power in the 250, but then again I'm not trying to race other cars. If someone wanted to race this car I'd say its the wrong choice. For every day driving I think the power is about right.
If you drive it aggressively and try to go fast, gas mileage will suffer, and won't be much better than a 350. Under normal, non-speeding, every day driving conditions the mpg difference would be 10-20% better than a 350.
I don't drive mine hard at all, I get 26 mpg average around town, 32-33 on the highway. I've had long trips where I sustained 36-37mpg for hours in the winter on fairly level terrain (no steep hills etc).
What I like best about it is the overall smoothness / quiet you expect from a six cylinder. I've had a lot of 6 cylinder cars that were faster than this, yet my overall satisfaction with this car is higher. When you're on the interstate and you need passing power, it still has plenty.

Looks OK but a little on the price side. I think the perfect choice for me would be a 2011 Is 350 AWD, but that is a little pricy too, I'm looking to spend about 20k, AWD is important to me s previous years 350 isn't AWD. But for 20k I can grt a fairly low mileage 2010 250 AWD

It's slow as *****. All it has it looks nice, good interior and built quilts is good. Other than that it's slow. Coming from a luxury 600hp srt8 and 10mpg is something I would always go back to
