I get a strange noise coming from the rear window area (cannot pinpoint the exact location) when the car is flexing over rough or un-smooth roads and inside/outside car temp is between 72-85 deg. It almost sounds like styrofoam is moving or scraping on something. Has anyone else heard this?
Thanks UNCO that's it exactly. I noticed you had this same problem and had it fixed for $145. Did the problem ever come back? I don't really feel like tearing into this hole headliner thing my self but would pay Lexus no more than what you did.
After they did the fix, the noise was gone and it's been fine since.
Summer has just begun again here in Australia and we haven't had that many hot days leading up to now so I haven't had a good chance to see if it comes back.
A few weeks ago when we had our first real hot day, the sound was coming back after I parked in the sun for a whole day, but since then we've had a couple of really hot days and it hasn't happened at all.
If it does come back I'll take it back to the dealer and have them take a look at it again.
Thanks for the reply unco. That's just it, when the temp is really hot both inside and outside the car the noise goes away. Apparently the heat expands the "whatever" and the noise stops just as when the temps are cold and the "whatever" contracts. It's only when the temp is in the so called sweet-spot (72-85) that it makes noises. Here in Texas now the temps are lower (40's - low 70's) and the noise is very slight at again around the 72 ish temp.
