I have a brand new (2014) IS350C and trying to understand the audio system.

[1] I burned a DVD with all the music I like, in mp3 format, arranged in various folders. When I insert the DVD in my computer it is recognized as a music disk and I am able to play. But, when I insert the DVD in the DVD player in the car the system says there are no music files. The DVD tab is dimmed.

[2] I hooked up my Samsung GS3 phone to the USB port under the arm rest. The phone says it is ready to be a music device. The car audio system does nothing. The USB tab is dimmed.

What am I missing? I appreciate any guidance.

you can only play CD with mp3 files, not DVD with mp3 files

 

Thanks, CD works (sucks that the DVD player won't play mp3 from DVD).

Any clue with my second issue, the USB interface, is much appreciated ....
