Greetings fellow Lexus owners,

Just purchased a 2006 IS 350 and was wondering if the trunk was supposed to open automatically? Is it supposed to close automatically as well? When I press the button, it just pops and you have to open it manually.

That is one heavy trunk!

That is normal, it just pops.

 

i dont think the ISx50 ever have had automatic opening trunks. at least not that early. not too sure about the 3is

 

The trunk isn't "heavy", the seals are just very successful at sealing around the trunk area onto the trunk lid, making the initial pull kind of tough. The trunk is aluminum I believe (same with the hood), and is assisted by two trunk struts that have probably gone out...thus not assisting your lifting movement. Both can be removed if desired.

And yes, it only pops the release mech; you have to manually open/close the trunk.

 

You may be thinkin of the RX or LS Series. ISx50 have never had auto trunk.
