IS250 with 2 small kids?
What are your thoughts on an IS with 2 small kids (one rear-facing and one forward-facing)? The IS wouldn’t be our primary baby hauler, but would be used at times to transport them.
My wife is tall and sits back far, so my guess is we can make the IS work with 1 kid, but not 2.
Appreciate any opinions.

I'd say it'll be some what cramped esp if you or your passenger almost or over 6ft tall and need to sit comfortably.
I have 1 1/2 yr old and shes in a front facing behind the passenger seat and her feet can easily touch the passenger headrest and thats having a passenger sit comfortably with enough leg/knee room in the front. I myself am about 5'11 and sit fairly far back (head lines up with the rear pillar) and there wouldn't be any way for her to sit behind me comfortably.
hopefully that gives you an idea. My 1 1/2 year old is only 32 inches long and fairly petite. I'd say for daily commutes it'd be farily cramped but every now and then shouldn't be too bad if the driver and passenger move their sets up

2 Kids in child seats in back of IS is pretty much maximum on the rear seats. It will not be very comfortable if you try to squeeze an adult size person along in the backseat. You wife is going to complain about the backseat room or may not even fit back there with 2 seats.
My brother had one child seat and it was painful with 2 adults in backseat. Keep in mind, I considered small frame 5' 6" with 32" waist.
Your best bet is to go for a larger car like the Camry or ES / LS. Or go for a SUV / Mini-van altogether

one word... NO
If you have kids then that means you have family, which means they are going to grow or other adults. Not the right car. Save your self the headache and go for the GS

I think the rear-facing seat, with a tall passenger, makes it a no-go. When I got my '07, I had a 2 yo in a front facing convertible seat and a 5 yo in a booster. I can say that worked out, and still works fine. But I would not have done it with a rear facing seat.
I bought new, and took my seats out at the dealer and transferred them to the IS to make sure it would fit. I highly recommend doing that.

All you people posting about kids growing bigger have obviously not experienced modern child seats. A rear facing 0 - 2 year old takes up more room than a 2-5 year old in a forward facing seat with a back/harness, a 2-5 year old in in a forward facing seat with a back/harness takes up more room than a 5-8 year old child in a booster, and a 5-8 year old in a booster takes up more room than a 8-12 year old without a car seat (talking about average sized children). 99.9% of the people on these boards starting out with a newborn will sell the car before their child starts taking up more space than they do in a newborn seat.
You've kind of answered your own question there, but if you rarely drive with 2 in the front + 2 children in the back you can MAKE it work if you want to. The older child goes behind the driver in the forward facing seat, and the younger child goes behind the passenger in the rear facing seat. You'll likely have to move the passenger seat forward quite a bit from it's normal position, and the forward facing child behind the driver won't have much leg room, but you can MAKE it work if you want to.
Sounds like you are trying to put they guy's wife in the back seat with the two kids...

I had 2 baby seats in the back both facing the front and they both fit fine with enough leg room for the front passenger (150-175cm) tall.
I never had a rear facing baby seat so i wouldn't be able to help out with that.
