Hello all,

I've a looked at a couple of 2008 IS250 in my area, the one with least mileage I found has 39000 on the clock and its at a Lexus dealer. Its the regular 250 AWD, I am not sure what package it has but its only got heated/vented seats no navigation or ML sound system. The best price the dealer gave me was 20500.

The second one I saw had 78k miles but had navigation and was priced at 18500 after negotiating.

The third I saw had 70k miles with navigation and was priced at 19500 after negotiating.

What do you guys think about the prices I am getting? Also which IS would you go with, is there a big difference between 40k and 70k miles in terms of a Lexus?

I am on a budget of 20k or 21k and looking to drive the car for 5 yrs, do you think buying a used luxury brand is better or am I better off with a new Kia/Honda/Hyundai? How easy it is to sell a 2008 Lexus IS250 in 2018?

I think the 2008 model would be a better choice, in terms of warranty. Lexus factory warranty is covered up to 50,000.00 miles and Powertrain up to 70,000.00 miles. I'd insist and make sure this warranty is honored despite of previous owner months of usage. I bought my first 2007 IS250 with 46,000.00 miles on it and I bothered Lexus to the very end to change out some mechanical and cosmetic parts. After weeks of research from both ends they honored everything. I'm pretty sure you can get this vehicle under $20,000.00. Mine had a sticker price of $24,000.00. I worked them down to $19,500.00 I know I had the good credit to back it up and once they saw I was very serious. They gave it to me for that price with Zero down. It wasn't easy, but the dealer is always going to find a way to make more money. All in name of purchasing a new car you must negotiate until the very end. I think selling this vehicle later down the road won't be a problem at all. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. That is interesting, how did you get them to honor the warranty knowing that the car is older than 4 yrs?

Work it into the negotiating process. Let them know after you reached a decision in the pricing that you will sign only if the remaining miles left in the warranty is honored. Don't mention anything about the months, everyone knows the vehicle was manufactured on X year. Your concern as a consumer is what you see on odometer and investing in a new vehicle. I also called Lexus headquarters and got all over them. I was always polite, courteous, & professional. With a little patience I squeezed whatever I could.

Personally i would go with the third one with 70k miles. These Lexus's last forever, so no need to worry about any problems. I would also think that you could hopefully negotiate a little more, and get the car for less money.
But nonetheless the navigation is awesome! i couldn't see having the car without it, it just tops it off!
The navigation alone is worth $1200.
Goodluck!

To be honest if u can get the warranty on the one with 38k miles I would go for that one. If you have an iPhone or one of those new droids the Navi on the phone is better than what's in the car IMO, I want navi just for looks rather than usage...lol. All 3 of those prices I think can be talked down another 1000..not that much but hey it's $18 less a month

I paid 25,500 taxes in (canadian dollars) for my 2008 is250 AWD and it had 92,000km on it.. (approx 58k miles)

that should give you an idea of where your at price wise.. my car had 1 owner lexus serviced up until the day i bought it.

sale price was 21,5 i believe (yeah taxes suck haha)
