I've read based on Philips datasheets and avg. 4100-4300K HID can produce 3100-3400 Lumens.
Those VLEDS LEDs are only 1800LM total output (per bulb).
I don't know if LED headlights somehow perform better with the less lumens.
These LEDs only perform better than their Halogen counterparts, not HIDs and no comparison. Some factory LED headlights come close but they used multiple LEDs and projectors in one headlight to produce that. This LED bulb looks like it only has two chips that either point up and down or left and right. Not good enough for the conventional halogen reflector housing or projector that was designed for a bulb that produces light in all directions.
Needless to say, I'm very skeptical and would like to see someone give them a try before I bash more. I don't even see any photos from VLEDs themselves testing them.
