Default Map info display remains the same after update

i had the 12.1 map update installed on my 2010 is250. it had the original v9.1 map on it. after the install, the info screen / map version still showed v9.1 on it. i asked the service tech and he said it doesn't change on the HDD navi systems but he showed me that you could look via the hidden service menu that the version level went up to "c" or something. they all swore up and down that this was the case and if i found out any different then they would address it. does anyone know for a fact that this is true? they gave me the USB dongle and i have the service receipt to prove that it was done but otherwise i don't see any difference yet.

Default

i found an es 350 owner with hdd nav that went thru this as well. i feel a little better and the update is reflected in my service history. what a flub on lexus's part with their much criticized NAV and its issues. a $100 tomtom shows you the map version it has why can't the $2k+ unit in our cars?

btw does anyone know the hidden service menu? the tech went too fast and i don't remember where he went. all i remember is that he just went upper left corner and lower left corner a few times until the menu appeared.
