Default A/C not cooling

Hello I have an IS 250 2010. The A/C takes a while to start blowing cold air. After a while it stops blowing cold air. The compressor stays on all the time. What I do is turn the A/C off and then on it starts blowing cold air again. Have to keep doing this every 5 to 10 minutes. It does this every time and on regular basis. Somebody told me to change the A/C amplifier . can this be true? Freon is ok and cooling fans are working fine/. Help

Very strange for a 5 year old car...

It looks like something is disengaging after a while so yes I'd say the A/C amplifier (which is what's controlling the Compressor). It's also expensive (a few hundreds). May-be something is overheating at some point, that would explain why it shuts off.

Can you confirm if compressor shuts off when air is starting to get warmer? That would be my guess.

Hi, Yes the compressor comes on, I saw a second hand amplifier for about 100 dollars on ebay. Do you know where this unit is located? I looked under dashboard driver side but could not see it.

I believe - but not sure at all - that it's in the HVAC module (this thing):

When air is starting to blow warm after a while, does compressor stay on? I know, it's a pain in the a** to tell since all you can hear are those loud radiator fans.

Also, when this happens, does the A/C button light stay on? It might be the entire console as well. Luckily, if you don't have navigation, you can buy one under 150$ on ebay.

EDIT : you might want to read this as well : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...blow-cold.html
