Default Key Fob Programming

Hi CL users,

I lost my key fob. Well, I think someone stole it because there's absolutely no way the key fob can magically fall off of my key chain ring. My question is, can you change the codes to the key fob and car computer so that whoever has my lost/stolen key fob can't access my car remotely? Assuming you can change the code, that eliminates the accessibility with the key fob. However, can they still use the cutout key to open the door or trunk and just not able to start the engine?

thank you!

Edit: Nvm it probably wouldn't have accidentally fell off, you said the physical key was lost too.

As far as removing keys - yeah if you go to the dealership they will be able to delete the keys out of the system and they wont be able to start the car or unlock it. But like you mentioned, the physical key still exists and yes they can open your doors or trunk with it still. The only way around that is to have everything re-keyed which is costly.

Yeah the key was still inside of the fob with its own ring attached to all my other keys. Basically the ring, key and fob is missing. I wish I can find the ******* who stole it.

You're right. I really don't want to rekey the car because I just can't afford that right now. The doors, the trunk, the glove compartment. I think that's all, I'm not to sure either.
