I went home to Kansas where there was a lot of snow and ice on the streets, so my car was sliding around a little bit and the traction light would come on. When I started to drive back home Dallas I noticed my check engine light was on, also there was a notice to "Check VSC"

About 70 miles out the check engine light started flashing and and immediately I noticed that I wasn't increasing in speed at all when I would press the gas pedal (I was going about 65 mph). My RPM's would increase but my speed would not. I pulled over and turned my car off and on and it started working again, gaining speed, but all the lights are still on.

I've looked at a few threads on here about these lights, but nothing about my speed not increasing when my check engine light started flashing. I'm at 82000 miles and out of warranty.

Anyone have any advice? By the way it is a 2006 IS 250.

Get the codes pulled first...then work from there.

The part where you say that it didn't accelerate is known as "limp mode." Basically what it means is that it goes into a protective mode to stop it from causing damage to itself. If you say that it went away after restarting it was more than likely a fluke, but i wouldn't take it lightly if it were to happen again.

Ok, I went to get the code checked and they said it was a spark plug.

Does this sound like a normal occurrence?

Swap the coilpack to another cylinder. If the error code follows the coilpack, then replace the coilpack. If not, pull the spark plug and post pics of the plug.
