Trunk won't open!? (Not the Vallet button)
Don't know what happened- all of a sudden my trunk won't open, pressing the button on the back above the license plate- nothing. Unlock on my key FOB- nothing, unlock on the dash-nothing. Opens when I use the physical key, or the "girlfriend lever" though. Depressed and reset vallet button in glove box thinking it was that, still nothing. Plus it came out of nowhere, no dead battery or anything proceeding it, if anyone has any ideas before I take it to lexus please let me know, any insight appreciated, thanks

Listen carefully if you hear the latch being unlocked when you press the unlock button. if you can then that means all you have to do is re-adjust the latch and move it up. sometimes when you open and close the trunk alot or slam it too hard it will end up vibrating and move the latch down so the trunk will no release by itself. if you can not hear the latch being unlocked, press the unlock button on the trunk while lifting the trunk up so it will open. if this is successful you will need to adjust your latch which should take no longer then 15min. if this is not successful then you have a power problem. i believe there is a fuse for it.
MAKE SURE THE LOCK BUTTON IN THE GLOVE BOX IS OFF!!! My friend is350 trunk would not open because the lock was on. |
isn't there a thread that said there a trunk latch recall

Thanks Kevin, checked it out tonight, listening for the click I'm so accustomed to was a great idea but it isn't that. I tried to listen to it both open and closed while pushing the buttons, definitely didn't make a noise, gonna have to look into the trunk latch fuse tomorrow I guess, thanks for the help/ideas tho.
