Wow ok. So if I was to buy a IS 250 how would I know if the car has the carbon build up problem?

Bigger brakes don't stop the car any faster than smaller brakes; it's the tires that does the stopping. Even if you put a 5000 dollar bbk on your car, the difference is negligible unless you track the car.Originally Posted by peyman
the 350 has bigger brakes/calipers also resulting in superior braking vs is250

that's like saying putting good tires on a suzuki forenza will stop better than the is350.
when comparing a huge aftermarket bbk to a good stock set up, yes. but when comparing both the is250 and is350, the is350 will have the better braking, feel wise and distance. these are brakes that come from factory with the correct bias. the bigger rotor, more piston will have better brake performance and shorter stopping distance.

Lmao! All cars should have the same little brakes then with top of the line tires instead.Originally Posted by infate

350 is the superior car hands down.

Definitely go with the IS 350. My buddy has an IS 250 and complains about the lack of power when he needs it. I went with the 350 and have no regrets. Like everyone said, the 250 is notorious for carbon build up. Good luck with your search! I looked at 3 or 4 of them before I went with the purchase. It took me almost two months to get mine. I was also stuck on whether to get the luxury package or sport package. I ended up getting the luxury because I thought the sport would've been to stiff a ride for my wife and kid.

As the other poster had said, all IS250 has it, just how bad a particular one is might differ ... but Lexus is covering it for 9 years with unlimited miles. I was about to buy an IS250 as well, then end up getting an IS350, which I'm very glad I did. You should too. There isn't much difference between MPG esp. in city. The IS250 is more popular that's why you see more for sale.Originally Posted by LexusFan09

350 all day. It is a lo tmore powerful, and the price difference is like so small its not worth suffering with a "go kart" type car. although you will have some extra cash for quick modding.
IS250 0-60 7.1 seconds. Quarter mile 15.4 @ 90mph
IS350 0-60 4.9 seconds. Quarter mile 13.5 @ 103mph

IS350 0-60 4.9 seconds. Quarter mile 13.5 @ 103mph

Thanks everyone for your inputs. So it looks like I'm going to search for a IS 350. Wish me luck everyone hopefully a local dealer has one for sale. I will let you all know when I purchase it.
