Default 2006 Lexus IS350 dealer problem.

Ok so I took my car in for a Tpms problem and they told me I need 1000$ to replace all sensors and my cams are noisy when I start the car. I don't have warranty. When I had warranty, I took the car in and told them there was a rattling sound at start up, the mechanic at Lexus heard the sound and told me it was normal. But now that I don't have warranty, it's not normal and I have to pay 3000$ to fix it. Is there anything I can do about this? I still have the original estimate from when I had warranty that shows I came in for a rattling noise at start up. Now for the tpms, I took it to a tire shop and they were able to reprogram them for 25$. From all this, is there anything I can do? Also when I took my car in for this they messed up my ash tray, it won't spring back when I push it in.

You might be able to fix the ashtray yourself. I had the same issue with mine after they installed a new 6MT gearbox and I took the whole ashtray out and reintalled it carefully and it worked fine afterwords.

I had the problem before. When you put it back in again, make sure that it's opened. If you try to put it in closed, it doesn't really go in and you have to kinda force it, and it doesn't work right after.

If you have the paperwork stating the mileage of the car and the date of the work order with them saying "it's normal", then you have a good case to get Lexus to cover it in my mind. First I would just try another dealership. If this doesn't pan out, then call up Lexus Corp and example the situation.

Curious, is the rep that said that the start-up grinding noise was normal is still working for Lexus there?

Thanks for the quick replies. Lexus is going to fix the ash tray and I talked to corporate, they are making Lexus fix my cams and do a full maintenance on the car. maybe this is a good time to get the GS350 loaner
