Default Wheel tire offset and lowering question...

Hello everyone...

So when it comes to tires/rims and rubbing issues i really dont have the experience or knowledge...

So here is the question...

Ive got an 08 IS350 and I am planning to lower my car with BC coils. After that I then might want to get some aftermarket rims.

I am interested in some 18's,(18" x 8.0") but their offset is +40 front and rear ( I really dont understand what offset is or what it changes). So the question is, will a +40 offset front and rear be a better upgrade from stock to DECREASE rubbing, or would it INCREASE rubbing (considering I plan to go pretty low on the coils) or would it make no difference?

Also, I am assuming these will have no problem fitting into my stock tires? They are bridgestone turanza er33 ... 255/40/18 rear and 225/40/18 front.... Those will fit on those rims mentioned above too, right?

Thanks in advance!!

Offset depends on the width of the wheel too. How wide are the wheels you are looking at? Generally a +40 at most widths is pretty conservative, and you shouldn't have to deal with much rubbing, if at all

They are 18" x 8,0" .... + 40 offset front and rear..... so will it be better or worse than stock for rubbing, that is the question? Which would leave more of a gap? or is that irrelevant?

Also, will they fit the stock tires that I have? 255/40/18 rear and 225/40/18 front ... bridgestone turanza er33..

Thats pretty much the only reason why im getting 18s so they fit my stock tires....and also added benefit of being ableto go lower

If you have RWD then I'd assume you have stock 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear..something like +40-45 offset..so you're actually downgrading
Run stagger if you're RWD

the 255 can fit 10 and 225 fit 9, both no problem

at least do +35, very conservative and looks great

Also depends on how low you wanna go

18x8 +40 there is no wayy you can rub lol. Im running 19x8.5 +30 front 19x10 +38 rear no rubbing thus far, after its dropped it might hit the fender lining but heat gun will fix that
