My 07 is250 has a bit of an incessant tapping noise going on. Not sure if it's normal or if something is wrong. Lexus dealership took a look at it but concluded nothing was wrong. That does not sound normal. Bad fuel injector? Get a second opinion.

 

loose spark plug?

sounds like its normal. the fuel injectors are just opening and closing and the sound bounces off the plastic plenum. IS350's are much louder.

 

i dont recall my is350 that loud. "knock on wood"

 

Can you record one with the hood closed?

I'm pretty sure my IS350 doesn't make that noise (esp. that loud I assume it will be heard even with the hood closed).

 

isnt that just how our fuel injectors are? i mean i hear it from mine too but it never got that loud.. maybe i should try opening the hood. LOL

 

I get that same sound from mine so annoying !!! Hopefully i wont be hearing it anymore with my next IS

With the hood closed it's much more muffled......but I have read about this being a common sound from the injectors. It just seems so out of place when it's idling. Could be a perfectly quiet engine otherwise.

Is there any way to reduce or completely eliminate the sound? My last car had a ping that sounded similar....so noises like this make me irritated.

My 350 is super loud, maybe cause I use fuel injector cleaner too?
